Thanks for playing in our Fantasy Fair Foods contest! The judges were impressed with all of the entries. You can read some of their comments and learn about the winners here.

With the State Fair's in-person events cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no new fair food this year. Nothing on a stick, no piles full of fried dough or meat.  

So we're putting you in charge.

Instead of voting for your favorite fair food, we want to hear your fair food fantasy. What would the perfect state fair snack look like? What are the ingredients? Is it on a stick? What would set your state fair creation apart from the rest?

Entries are due by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18. A panel of local chefs will read the submissions and decide which fantasy fair foods sound the most greasy, most creative and most delicious.

The winner will get bragging rights, a 2020 RAGBRAI jersey and Register swag.
