Welcome, radio listeners, to our contest
In tribute to the friendly voices of the radio dial in Des Moines, we gave you the chance to vote for your favorite local morning DJs. Now we have our winners!. Congrats to Van & Bonnie of WHO-AM 1040, as well as to runner-up Big Ken & Colleen of "Star" 102.5 and No. 3 show Lou, Round Guy & Heather of 95 KGGO.

See a photo gallery of the DJs plus Q&As with many of them in which they talk about their most embarrassing on-air moments, celebrity encounters and why they got into the radio biz. To keep the contest fair and manageable, we included only local professional DJs (not nationally syndicated shows or student broadcasters) in the immediate Des Moines metro.

Are there prizes?
The winning morning radio DJs will be featured in upcoming coverage. Our thanks to voters: When registered to vote in the contest, all users were automatically entered in a random drawing to receive a $70 prize package from the Des Moines Playhouse: two tickets to "Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience" March 11 at the Playhouse as well as two drink tickets during the show and a concert T-shirt. Congrats to our winner, Tyler Hendershot!
