OVERVIEW: The Des Moines Area Sports Commission (DMASC) will give Central Iowans the opportunity to nominate and vote for their favorite sports team(s) and athlete(s) based on the criteria outlined below. (Herein after called Central Iowa Sports Awards, “CISA”.) Beginning on November 12, 2009, nominations will take place online by clicking on the CISA link located on each media partner’s website and conclude on December 18, 2009. Following that date, the CISA Honors Committee Members will review nominations and select the finalists for the public vote. The public online vote will take place from January 4, 2010 to February 4, 2010. When voting has concluded, the CISA Honors Committee Members will review the votes and make the final determination as to the winners. The official winners will be named at the CISA Banquet to be held at The Meadows Ballroom located at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino on February 21, 2010.

2)Nomination and Voting Criteria:
a)All activities must have occurred during calendar year 2009.
b)All activities must occur within a 75 mile radius of home plate in Principal Park. (1 Line Drive, Des Moines, Iowa)
c)Online nominations/votes that take place outside of the above listed dates or geographic area will not be accepted.
d)The DMASC, Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau and all associated parties are not liable for Internet/voting issues.
e)High School nominees must participate at the varsity level of competition and must meet all varsity eligibility requirements.
f)College/University nominees may come from any division of the NCAA, NAIA or the NJCAA; they must participate at the varsity level of competition and must meet all varsity eligibility requirements.
g)Professional/Motorsports/Other nominees are open to all sports not represented above.
h)All disputes to be settled by the Central Iowa Sports Awards Honors Committee.
3)A panel of judges selected by DMASC will evaluate nominations and votes prior to awards being presented. The Central Iowa Sports Awards Honors Committee Members are:

6)Each nomination must be submitted separately.
7)The winning athlete(s)/team(s) will be named on February 21, 2010. The athlete(s)/team(s) receiving the most votes and complying with the standards set forth by the Honors Committee will be named the winners.
8)DMASC is not responsible for inability to vote on the website due to technical difficulties, problems associated with telephones, email delivery or problems with the Internet.
9)Chances of winning will be determined by the number of nominees received and votes received and are not possible to calculate at this time.
10)DMASC retains sole and exclusive possession and retains all rights to use any nomination entry information/content, or any part thereof, indefinitely in any promotions including (but not limited to) media. The aforementioned stipulations apply to both winning and non-winning nominees and entrants.
11)CISA Honors Committee judges are not responsible for cost associated with submitting any entry or any costs arising out of participating in the contest or failure to adhere to official contest rules.
12)All finalists agree that their voice, name, photograph, caricature and likeness may be used by DMASC and GDMCVB for promotional purposes. All official nominees agree to provide DMASC with their name, address and phone number.
13)Employees of DMASC, CISA Honors Committee and individuals’ parent companies, their advertising agencies, affiliates, Prairie Meadows, employees and immediate families of each are not eligible to win. Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.
14)CISA Honors Committee reserves the right to disqualify any entrant or nominee if these contest rules have been violated in any way.
15)No purchase necessary to participate or win. Void where prohibited by law.
16)Rules are subject to change without notice.
